Resilience. Its been on my mind for a while. Its daring greatly. Its being willing to try new things. To take risks. And worst of all to potentially fail. A word we try to remove from our vocabulary. Yet we are comfortable telling our kids to take risks (Get out there, Just try it) but we yet often try to let uncomfortableness, when it comes our way, pass us by. We sit back, wait, and think, phew, dodged that one. My family took a big swing a little over two years ago... moved to a new place wed never lived before, to go after a wonderful job opportunity for my husband. Flash forward two years, three home moves and a remodel later, the job didnt pan out the way wed hoped. I was asked the other day by a neighbor, Wow, I bet you really regret moving here, dont you? The honest answer is, No, I have no regrets at all. I am glad that we moved outside our comfort zone, that our kids have gotten to see a new part of the world, that they now have friends on two coasts, that they know what it means to extend themselves, even when its not comfortable. It will happen over and over again in their lives and each time theyll know one thing for sure. They will be ok. We dont know whats next, its still all up in the air, all I know is that well be fine. Well be together (through thick and thin and even 6 of snow), well support one another and well make the best out of each opportunity that comes our way. Well swing for the fences (and occasionally strike out). This is the legacy I want our kids to have. Heres to getting in the ring, taking part in the battle and no matter where the chips fall, knowing that youre going to be ok.
