Rest In Peace Chief (Dr) Idowu Ogbeide(DAVOG) : The Large Hearted Man Of The People. We didnt see death coming, we thought he would still live longer for us to have more of his milk of Phylantrophy. We expected not the early exit from the terrestrial plane of the collosus of selfless living that dominated our existence with his open hands of generous giving of no strings attached. His was the real actualisation of ose falejo, o se fonile. Yes , he was the Tiger of our time that fought poverty and lack to submission. He worked for his money, he made his money and didnt spend the money alone.Born on 9th of January I956,the open handed son of Mr Edosowan Joseph Ogbeide and Mrs Comfort Ogbeide(nee Adepoju of Ipoti Ekiti ) made life worth living and comfortable for all those that came his way. DAVOG Institute of Catering and his all other business institutions were established to generate employments for the jobless. Many scholarships he awarded, many hospital bills of the poor people he paid, he always got himself involved with developmental projects- a true meaning of omoluabi. A true omoluabi he was, which made the people of his maternal root to make him High Chief Sadeu Ejiyan. Though he was paternally of Edo State and maternally of Ekiti state, very hard it was to know where he was more popular between Edo State and Ekiti State- hes was a true meaning of ai lapa baba, ka ma ni tiya- he was truly loved by his people of the two ends. Besides his blood root of Edo and Ekiti states, DAVOG was loved and appreciated both nationally and internationally, which made the people of Ilaramokin of Ondo State to honour him with the chieftancy title of Bobagunwa not forgetting the great people of Ifon, Ondo State who also made him Chief Utugbuwa of Ifon Land. He loved education, besides giving scholarships to many students of Ipoti High School, he renovated the collapsing school hall and the hall was named after him- Dr Idowu Ogbeide Hall. If we are talking nationally of Ipoti High School, we must not forget a State University of California in far away United States of America who honoured him with a doctorate degree. He was richly blessed not only with money, he left behind a solid family of successful men and ladies. He,s gone but the selfish man in us didnt want him to go because of the selfless man in him- alas! He who owned him that sent him to be of Him to others Has taken him back to Himself after he has successfully completed the job He sent him to do for mankind.
