Return to Normandy: militaryaviationmuseum.org/HangarTalk_D-day%2070th%20Anniversary.html A veteran of the US Armys 101st-Airborne Division, in 2010 Sgt. Norwood Thomas, then 88, took to the skies once again. He donned a parachute, boarded a plane, and went skydiving in Suffolk, VA. For the occasion he wore an Army jacket, a replica of the one he wore in 1944. In his pocket he carried a piece of an earlier parachute. Sgt. Thomas jumped into Normandy, France, on D-Day, 6 June, 1944. Subsequently, he participated in Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. From 1100am on Saturday, 28 June, 2014, the Military Aviation Museum will welcome Sgt. Norwood Thomas and Col. Ed Shames, both witnesses to the 101st-Airborne Divisions D-Day operations. Weather permitting, we will demonstrate the MAMs North American P-51D Mustang, Double Trouble Two, following the conclusion of the discussion. Please telephone 757-721-7767 with questions.
