Right! CO-ED CUP UPDATE: 3 of the 4 fields are going to be good to play on, provided there isnt heavy rain overnight then we may yet be able to play on the 4th field also (a call about the 4th field will be made in the morning). All rugby games will share one field, girls football on one and boys football on another. There will still be a BBQ on the side of the field with sausages ($2) and bacon butties ($3.50) as well as 1.5L of water ($2). No one involved in the co-ed tournament needs to go to first period however: You must return your permission slip and arrange payment at the student office. Boys football players: You are to meet Mr Beagley in the UCR tomorrow at 8:30am so he can get you guys sorted out - make sure everyone is there. Girls and boys hockey: You are to meet in the old gym at 8:15am so Mr Spiers and Miss McCormack can take the rolls and get you organised and on the bus to the hockey turf. You will also be given a Bayfield jacket for the day to keep you warm down at the turf. Bowls players: You are to meet Mr Quin in the new gym at 8:45am. Other instructions: • Tournament will go ahead regardless of the weather although there will be some changes if the grounds are unable to be used. If school was closed due to the weather then the tournament would be cancelled. • Venues- Hockey at the turf (bus leaves school at 8:45 from Shore Street), Netball and Basketball is all at the Edgar Centre and Lion Foundation arena. Football is on Bayfield Park, Badminton is in our new gym and indoor bowls will be upstairs at the Dunedin Ice Stadium. • All events start at 9:30 am. All players must be at their venues no later than 9:00 am • Round robin so you will play 4 games against the other schools during the day. All games consist of 12 minute halves. Every win earns 3 points, a draw 1 point and 0 points for a loss to the schools total. Winning school is the school with the greatest points total at the end of the day. • The trophy – The Denis Slowley Cup in honour of Mr Slowley our Principal who as you know retired at the end of 2011. Last year played (2012) we missed winning it by 2 points so it would be nice to win it this year.. Some extra motivation there. • By now all summer sports fees should be paid up as well which we will check before Tuesday so get this organised please. • Food – Canteens operating but bring some food with you – busy day • Wear warm gear and correct school playing gear. We are on display and the ODT will be there. It’s our chance to show we are the top Dunedin Co-Ed school. • All games will be finished by 2:30pm. At 2:45 pm in the Lion Foundation arena will be the Prize Giving so everybody needs to be there. Hockey bus will go there as well. You will be released from there at about 3:00pm once we collect the trophy. Spot prizes will be awarded and each team will put a most valuable and a most improved player nominations and a draw will be made. • Changing Rooms – We will use our gym changing rooms to take the pressure off the Bayfield Park ones so other schools can use them. Take all gear out with you and leave no valuables. The Pavilion will be reserved for coaches and staff from the schools so not in there please. • No wandering around inside the area of the school as classes will still be operating. • Sports Injuries clinic will be running at the Edgar Centre Phew!!! GOOD LUCK TOMORROW EVERYONE!!! Any questions? please ask them on here or email Mr King: [email protected]
