Rising Kashmir staffers beaten by Police, CRPF Sunday, 21 Jul 2013 at 10:27 AM Rising Kashmir News Srinagar Jul 21: Two staffers of Rising Kashmir were ruthlessly beaten by the police and CRPF personnel at Peerbagh late last night. Mohammad Jaffar and Abdul Qayoom were on way to RK press fortaking the final copy when they were stopped at Peerbagh where heavy deployment of the forces had been made. Even as the vehicle carries the RK, Buland Kashmir and Sangarmal titles in bold letters, they were thrashed by thepolice and CRPFand asked to leave the spot. "They kicked us, abused and threatened with direconsequences if we come again" said the terrified staffers. Both had no option but to retreatand reach back to office in Press Enclave. Jaffar got brusises all over his body and was later treated at a local hospital. The matter was later brought into the notice of SP Budgam MohammadArshad on whose intervention the vehicle was allowed to take the copies to the print. He assured investigation into the incident. However, the incident took place amid claims of the authorities that no curfew passes were needed for media and those associated with essential services. Infact district administration announced a helplinefor the purpose but the way the CRPF has been treating people the claims have turned out to be hallow. It is pertinent to mention that thestretch from Hyderpora to Humhama has been on boil for last two days and a few VIP cavalcades came under the attackof agitating youth.
