Roadside Grave of Gentleman Jim James Travis Gentleman Jim - TopicsExpress

Roadside Grave of Gentleman Jim James Travis Gentleman Jim Reeves was born August 20, 1923, in Galloway, Texas. He rose to fame by abandoning Countrys traditional hollerin hillbilly style and pioneering smooth, velvet-voiced vocals that wowed the ladies. Though he died at 40 piloting a private plane in Tennessee in 1964, his records continued to hit the charts until the 1980s. Reeves is buried on a one-acre, tree-ringed plot of land -- with its own parking lot -- just off Highway 79 in his birthplace of Panola County, near Carthage. He is a member of both the Country Music and Texas Country Music Halls of Fame.
