Robin Williams. So sad. Is it more sad than the homeless man that dies from consumption? The solider who dies protecting his brother? The neighbor who tries to stop a domestic violence moment? The demonized teenager who chooses death over life? We mourn robin because we felt a connection to him through his work. Is this not wrong? To grieve for him more than the man down the street suffering from addiction, depression, mania or aids? When did we allow ourselves to become so shallow? Shame on us. A life is a life. A death is a death. Popularity, influence, position and means should never be allowed to be the guiding force behind the outpouring of our souls for the downtrodden in our world. I did not know the man. Neither did most of the people expressing so much loss for him. Neither do most of us know the person who committed suicide last night, this morning or while you have been reading this post. For shame upon us for caring so much and yet so little.
