Ruling Upheld: American Flags Banned at School on Cinco de Mayo The case involves a California High School – where a group of Mexican American students walked on campus waving a Mexican Flag on Cinco de Mayo. A handful of other students later responded by wear shirts displaying the American Flag. Both sides clashed. In the end, the court banned the kids from wearing shirts with the American Flag. It was a safety issue the court reasoned. This week a panel of Judges refused to reconsider the case. A lawyer representing the students with the American flag shirts – says they will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
