Rupiah Case on Today The case involving former President Rupiah Banda will resume today in the Lusaka Magistrate Court after being adjourned yesterday. Banda, who is facing an abuse of authority case over a Nigerian oil deal, had asked for an adjournment on Monday following an application by his lawyers. The former Head of Sate is alleged to have pocketed US$ 2.5 million in an offshore account although two ‘star’ witnesses for the prosecution including former ambassador to Nigeria Major Richard Kachingwe have told the court that no such amount was paid. A representative of the Nigerian oil firm also denied that any such amount was paid.
