Russia annexes Ukraines Crimea ! Some pointers: 1. The people of the autonomous region of Crimea within Ukraine have voted massively in favor of secession from Ukraine and re-joining Russia, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. 2. Crimean Prime Minister has signed the accord to annex Crimea to Russia, followed by Putins signature on the annexation treaty. 3. US and Western powers cry foul in this move, citing international laws on carrying out referendums in another Nation and infiltration to annex a part of the country. However, they cannot brush aside the fact that this was the result of peoples voices in the referendum. 4. Belarus and Russia have already formed a supranational Union state and talks are still active for integrating Belarus into Russia. 5. Russia is the front-runner in forming a Eurasian union, in the likes of the European Union. Apart from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have expressed interest in joining the union. 6. It is rumored that Russia is more keen on annexing the entire Ukraine under its control, according to sources from Kiev. 7. Russia brushes aside the US and Western worlds sanctions and its suspension from the G8. Is it just because of the Western Worlds interest to retain sovereignty of Ukraine or the fear of re-integration of the once-dissolved Soviet states ? 8. Russia also played an important role in blocking US action against Syria in 2013. Do we see a resurgence of Soviet Russia ? Would we see a second super power in this world supported by socialist allies of Russia like China, India, Vietnam etc. ? Interesting !!!!
