SANATANA DHARMA The Taitareeya Upanishad in the concluding part - TopicsExpress

SANATANA DHARMA The Taitareeya Upanishad in the concluding part of Seekshavalli gives what a guru tells his disciple who having completed his studies is ready to take leave of his master. Satyam Vadha (Speak the Truth) Dharman Chara (walk the path of dharma) says the guru denoting that these two are the ones to be followed throughout the life. In the olden days education was for inculcating in the pupil the ways and means of living an useful and purposeful life. The purpose of life is to elevate oneself in the process of self evolution step by step proceeding from the basic animal instinct to become a human being and attain still greater heights by discovering the inherrent divinity within. Having learnt the vedas and its practice the student is ready to venture out into the world and explore life when he is given the two tenets Satyam Vadha and Dharmam Chara. Truth is always relative. It is conditioned by ones knowledge and perception. We only believe as truth what we can validate against what is within our knowledge. At one point of time it was believed that the earth was flat and all the celestial bodies went around it. Anyone who thought otherwise was branded as a fool. We also accept as truth what those who we consider as knowledgeable hold as true. Hence it is always relative and conditioned by ones belief system. So what is true for one need not be for another. Then what Is the Truth the guru asks his sishya to follow? Let us think it over. OM TAT SAT
