SC admits MBBS/ BDS candidates’ petition IMPHAL, September 5: The petitioners in the case filed against the cancellation of MBBS/BDS entrance test have moved the case to the Supreme Court of India after the High Court of Manipur dismissed the case. Health Services, Manipur Director Dr A Bijoy had issued an official notification informing that the entrance test for admission into MBBS/BDS course for the academic session 2013 will be held on June 9, 2013. Following this, 5753 admit cards were issued to the candidates who had applied for the entrance test. However, on June 7, 2013, another official notification issued by the Director, Health Services had informed that the entrance exam has been cancelled. Disappointed by the act, 10 candidates who had received the admit cards for the said entrance test had filed a case at the High Court of Manipur against the cancellation of the entrance test. The High Court of Manipur in its final ruling on August 26, 2013 dismissed the case after which, the petitioners challenging the High Court’s dismissal order moved to Supreme Court of India on September 4, 2013. The petitioners will be represented by Counsel VK Agarwal at the Supreme Court. It may be mentioned here that a state cabinet meeting had resolved that the candidates for the MBBS/BDS for this academic session will be selected from the merit list of NEET examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
