SEEK DAILY (NBC) Thursday, November 27 1 Timothy 4:4-11 HOPE SET ON THE LIVING GOD This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance…that we have put our hope in the living God… 1 Timothy 4:9, NIV A young boy wanted to become a medical doctor but his father wanted him to study law. Since he could not help the situation because of his financial dependence, he gave in to the father. On his graduation, he handed over his certificate as a lawyer to his father, and said, “Dad, here is the certificate I got for you, since you wanted me to be a lawyer. Having done what you wanted, I will now pursue my career as a medical doctor, because my heart is set on it.” All those who have come to know the Lord have their hope set on God, through Jesus Christ. Just like the young boy in this story, they must be ready to do all it takes to ensure that their hope does not become futile. Godliness is a proof that our hope is set on God. Godliness is shown in our character and conducts and it reflects a genuine and sincere love and fear of God. It is built through a spiritual upbringing and consistent adherence to the truths of the faith (vs. 6) as revealed in the Scriptures. That is why we have to be mindful of the kind of teachings and practices that we yield to (v. 7). • Birthday Blessing: “Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they dwell with me; he that walketh in a perfect way he shall serve me.” Psa. 101: 6 Read Bible Through Passage: Daniel 1:1; 1 Peter 5.
