SENATOR IFEANYI okowa BELIEVES ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Education: The Best Investment/Empowerment. Education is an important part of many people’s lives that has endless value. It is something that pays off well into the future and offers opportunity rather than a hindrance to the possibilities in life. While it is certainly a big step to continue education it is not something that you will regret because it is one of the few things in life that is never a bad thing. As we have entered the twenty-first century, it is clear that education is, indeed, the best investment that we can make, for an information economy depends upon a knowledgeable, skilled, educated workforce. Today, at the early stage of another century, change is in the air again. People are wondering whether schools are giving their children the skills they’ll need to succeed, this time in the Information Age. A new technology revolution is transforming business and putting new demands on our educational system—even while the technology itself is providing the means for meeting these demands. The people who resist change will be confronted by the growing number of people who see that better ways of learning are available. In Nigeria., demand for a competitively educated workforce is high. Parents are insecure about their children’s employment prospects, having read repeatedly that there will be “two societies” in the future: high-paid knowledge workers and low-paid service workers. Obviously, education is the best investment that we can make in such a situation. The better educated our pupils/students are, the better we will perform economically. There is an urgent and inevitably need for our political leaders to change their mindset as par what development/empowerment means,and redirect or double their effort on a more sustainable means of developing the Today and Tomorrow Every good politician that meant well for his people will invest effectively in the education of his people,because with education he will expose their present and future to greater opportunities . Education makes you feel a sense of accomplishment. Everybody knows that school is not always easy and many aspect of the process can be challenging. Once you have gone through the entire process you will feel proud of yourself because you started something and completed it. Being more informed is another perk to having a solid education. With more knowledge you will be able to make better decisions and also think about problems more critically. The pathway to education will expose you to many more views and allow you to see the world in a different manner. Education offers security. When one door closes another one opens when you have an education. With an education you are able to tap into other opportunities that would not have been available otherwise. Not to mention, when you have a family at some point you will be able to better provide for them because you have a skill set. In short, with an education there are endless possibilities. You open yourself up to new experiences, challenges, and accomplishments. You are able to gain a career and challenge yourself in ways that are only possible through a solid education. While you may not have a completed plan of how you want your life to go, an education expands your opportunities and proves to be a sense of security you will have your entire life.
