POSITION SUMMARY: The Merchandiser of our Home Store will be responsible for developing a financially sound assortment plan of Home product merchandise for the Calypso St. Barth brand. While keeping an eye on emerging trends, previous sales/revenue, and pre- determined assortment strategies, this person will maintain a collection and work to create a cohesive merchandise mix to optimize sales and profitability. The Merchandiser of Home will work closely with cross functional departments. These areas include but are not limited to Planning, Marketing, Retail and our Distribution Center. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for discovering new Home product vendors, establishing and maintaining relationships • Managing merchandise selection, pricing, payment terms, exclusivity and special collaborations for current vendor relationships • Collaborate with follow Merchants, Production and Design to coordinate overall retail merchandise offerings • Work cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Retail and our Distribution Center to strategize and implement effective processes that support the Home business • Partner with Marketing to create promotions and events which will increase awareness to the Home product category • Oversee the merchandizing and assortment of Home product on the Calypso ecommerce site • Provide continuous and effective communication of the overall vision to business partners such as Web, Visual, Marketing, etc. • Work closely with the Visual Merchandising team on creating Home product directives • Collaborate with Store design on new store openings • Manage the Open to Buy (OTB) for the Home business • Oversee margin management for all styles your line by analyzing weekly sales numbers to identify re-order opportunities and items that require markdowns • Review of historical performance: test Top and Bottom performers • Participate in weekly open-to-buy meetings with Planning & Allocation to ensure the achievement of financial goals • Attend relevant Furniture Fairs and Gift Shows EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: • Must have at least 4-5 years of home product merchandising experience with a successful track record of business growth • Professional experience in Interior Design, Home furnishing and decorating, or home product • Proven ability to understand and be pro-active with financial retail indicators such as sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, sell-through and turn • Must have full proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis • Must have broad-based business acumen with a high-end product intelligence and aesthetic • An acute home design sense with proven ability to envision and interpret home product trends, preferred • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in preferred or business equivalent • Must be able to travel Since launching its first store in 1992 in St. Barth, Calypso St. Barth has grown from a modest French resort-wear line into a global luxury lifestyle brand with a passionate following.
