SHIRLEY ANNE HALL 1929 – 2014 Shirley was born October 25, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the first of seven children to Stephen and Dorothy Wiser. The family moved to Nebraska when she was a toddler and lived there until she was 12. In 1941, the family moved to Oregon, where she graduated from McMinnville High School in 1947. She married David Hall on February 22, 1948, and resided in McMinnville until the time of her death. Shirley was the bookkeeper at Rutherford’s from 1946 until the store closed. In 1969, she became the administrative assistant to the comptroller at Linfield College, where she worked until 1975. She spent 17 years working for MIP, along with various part-time bookkeeping positions, including Bethel Baptist Church, Howard Travel, Four Seasons Travel, Kellie Menke, CPA, McMinnville Vision Clinic, Hillside and Elite Tuxedos & Photography. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, which included many cruises and camping and fishing with friends in their motor home. Shirley was an active and valued member of Bethel Baptist Church for nearly 60 years. She began each day spending time with her Lord: reading the Bible, daily devotions and prayer. She enjoyed being a part of many women’s Bible studies. Her hobbies included reading, lunch with her sisters, jigsaw puzzles with family members, gardening and spider solitaire. She was a fabulous cook, baker and seamstress, and she shared these talents with all her children. Shirley entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior May 13, 2014, at WVMC, with her daughters and numerous family members at her side. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege to know her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years; her parents; and her brother, Don Wiser. She is survived by her children, Dwight of Bridgeport, WA, Pam Arthur (Dave) of Tigard, Karen Bryan (Darnley) of McMinnville, and Nancy Rice (Jim) of Kelso, WA; 10 grandchildren, Dylan Arthur, JJ Arthur, Jeff McMurtry, Ben Arthur, Angela Humphrey, David Hall, Jimmy Rice, Daniel Hall, Rachel Rice and Tristan Hall; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bev Ingram and Joan Tribbett and brothers, Dick Wiser and Ron Wiser, all of McMinnville, and Larry Wiser of Spokane, WA. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Bethel Baptist Church in McMinnville. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
