SLIDELL, La. -- Police are investigating a traffic accident in Slidell that left a pedestrian dead Wednesday night. The accident happened just after 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 190 and Cross Gates Boulevard. According to police spokesman Trooper Nick Manale, the victim was standing in the left lane of U.S. 190 when David DeSalvo, 31, struck her in his 2006 Nissan Sentra. Doctors pronounced the victim dead in the hospital. DeSalvo passed a breathalyzer test, Manale said, and toxicology results are pending for the pedestrian. Officials are still trying to identify the body. No charges have been filed.
