SLPP seems to be Remaining as Opposition because of the way they - TopicsExpress

SLPP seems to be Remaining as Opposition because of the way they shy to debate about our Healthcare or sending a team to suggest to the President on how to create the System that will Cover every Citizen of the Land. SLPP will Remained as opposition because they refused to visit orphanage home of Children losing their Parent due to Ebola so they can learn about their living Condition. SLPP will Remained as Opposition because the Minority Leader never talked about the working Condition of all Sierra Leone ebola Health workers or the Shortage of Sierra Leone Medical doctors. President Koroma hasn’t locked up his critics in the SLPP because he knows them more than the way they know themselve. Eleven years after extinguishing the flames of its civil war, Sierra Leone has conducted periodic elections, followed by the transfer of power from one political party to another. A critical look at Sierra Leone will, however, reveal a recidivist State, slowly reverting to one-party kind of Government. Democracy, they say, takes root by thriving in an emporium of ideas, where an active opposition exists to probe and check government at all times. Sierra Leone is a country in which the main opposition party, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), only functions during presidential elections. Once presidential elections come and go, the country’s main opposition party practically ceases to function, enabling the president to rule unchecked, just like an unelected head of state. How can we take the Opposition Serious or why wasting our time one more to cast vote for them? I have been in Social media writing in favor of the People while those trying to Run as Flag -bear refusing to talk about our Healthcare. They will Pay a Price for political recklessness and negligence. Long before its electoral defeat in 2007, the SLPP was in control of Sierra Leone, steering the country with all the executive might of the presidency. If the party’s thinkers were not so shortsighted, the SLPP could have used its numerous years in power to girdle itself with the political infrastructure needed to stay afloat, even after losing power. Unfortunately, Sierra Leonean politics is a unique domain, through which neglectful men can destroy an entire country without the slightest sense of regret. After spending more than a decade in power, the SLPP lost the presidency and retreated into opposition as a visionless political party, cash-strapped and bereft of practical ideas. Reduced to a mere skeleton — both in terms of funds and the ability to hold itself together — the SLPP exists as a chaotic opposition, powerless against President Koroma. I have stand calling for Universal Care but the opposition I get always came from some of the opposition Supporters. This Supporters telling me such idea cant work in Sierra Leone because the Country is bankrupt and Sierra Leone cant be like Ghana, Rwanda, south sudan. Some in the Opposition even go further to said, The Healthcare in Sierra Leone now is Universal Healthcare When politicians hijack democracy and turn it into a charade, the people lose. Without an active opposition in parliament or in the realm of public relations. Since there is no credible opposition to make the president and his cabinet answerable to the people call for Healthcare, scandals and political improprieties are never investigated in Sierra Leone I see another term for the APC Party because we wont endorse a Political Party acting like Boys Club. Last year, for example, Sierra Leone was hit by ebola epidemic that killed thousand of people. None of them went to the President to Comment about the Health care and issue a Public Statement of such meeting. They just relaxed waiting for 2018 election A political system in which the opposition challenges the government during elections only to stop functioning immediately afterwards is not a democracy. In a democracy —even a young democracy — the opposition does not fall into abeyance. A constitutional opposition should always be a thorn in the flesh of the government, endlessly looking for opportunities to wash the government’s dirty laundry in public.
