SOUTH-SOUTH PDM BACKS GEJ FOR SECOND-TERM The Peoples Democratic - TopicsExpress

SOUTH-SOUTH PDM BACKS GEJ FOR SECOND-TERM The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) has expressed its resolve to support the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan if he decides to run in the 2015 presidential election. The decision to back President Jonathan’s re-election bid was taken in Asaba by the South-South zonal working committee of the movement. In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the group maintained that PDM was a pressure group in the mainstream Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and that the members remained loyal members of the ruling party. The South-South PDM chieftains therefore disassociated themselves, “completely from the PDM registered as a political party,” even as they expressed confidence in the national leadership under the chairmanship of Senator Abubakar Mahdi. The communiqué signed by the South-South zonal coordinator, Chief Ejiofor Onyia and made available to Daily Sun read: “That we shall continue to support the transformation programme and work for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan if he decides to run. “We appeal to all our leaders to come together as we face the challenges ahead. We also encourage all our members in the zone to continue to work towards the aspirations of our leaders.” According to the communiqué, the South-South PDM also expressed confidence in the national leader of the group, Chief Tony Anenih for his continued support for the ideals of the founding fathers of the group.
