SPECIAL INDEPENDENCE MESSAGE TO UNPACK THE TRUTH FORUM GROUP I have been an administrator of this unpacking the truth forum since 2011 and promise to uphold the role until such time when the time is right to pass on the role to some capable people. Needless to say, today marks PNG’s 39 years of political independence and would like to say HAPPY NATIONAL DAY to you all bloggers out there who have been debating on national issues via this modern intellectual digest forum. This country called PNG is very lucky to become independent politically but socially our socio-economic indicators are very low, way below the margins comparatively. However given our economy with the advent of LNG in the extractive industry. I think governmental leadership and bureaucratic management based on Christian principles is the only recommended prescription for national progress and advancement. PNG can become an economically powerful country in The South Pacific if my recommendation can be pursued aggressively at the strategic policy level and managed operationally at the bureaucratic level without any corruption. In other words, governance and management based on transparency and accountability and ethically based performance is the way forward strategy for this young and rich nation. For me that is the solution to the countless number of political, economic and social problems that is crippling the progress on this young nation. This said Papua New Guinea has moved on as a nation. No doubt. The message here is our leaders and managers should re-focus our attention in developing strategic budgets on the development of the human resources based on developing better human beings to plan, lead, manage and control the financial, extractive sector, agriculture sector, and human resources sectors of the nation. The rationale for promoting this philosophy is that it is the human resources of this great nation that is the real driver of this nation’s government policy and national principles. Developing more budgets on non-human related sectors like infrastructure, ICT, roads & bridges to name a few is quite backward thinking though its important and amounts to irrational thinking? The crucial question that arises all the time is who is going to be the main driver? It is not the infrastructure or ICT who is going to perform and deliver…it is the human resources….Therefore, any government should spend more budget to develop and build the country’s human resources capital in the very first instance as the way forward human resources development strategy of this great nation called PAPUA NEW GUINEA.
