‘SSRB should withdraw application fee hike’ JAMMU: Terming the decision of Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) to hike the fee for applying for various posts as totally unjustified and an attempt to prevent a large number of educated unemployed youth from availing the opportunity to apply for advertised posts, BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan said that SSRB should adopt an humane approach towards the youth desirous of applying for the posts as many of them belong to very poor families, who cannot even manage two square meals for their survival. Balbir, while referring to various posts advertised by SSRB last month, said that demanding Rs 400 for applying for each post as fee, indicates that the States recruiting agency is converting itself into a business unit, whose sole focus is to mint money for this NC-Congress defunct government. He said that as the number of unemployed youth in the State runs into lakhs, the posts advertised are too meager in number and hence every one wants to apply for more than one post. Many of them might wish to apply for even four to five different posts advertised by SSRB at a time as they get rare chances to apply for government job. In this way, each such applicant will have to pay rupees two thousand as fee and if two to three unemployed youth belonging to a single family apply like this, their families will not be in a position to arrange rupees six thousand or more for their children to pay as fee along with application forms. It will obviously result into over aging of many perspective candidates, which will be indeed very unfortunate, discriminatory and speaks of governments unconcern for providing them jobs before they get overaged, he said. Balbir said that the SSRB should treat itself as a social service agency with a sole motive of helping poor and keeping the hopes of employment alive adding that the State Government should also take the matter seriously and direct SSRB not to charge such high amount as fee The State Government should show that it has full compassion for the unemployed educated youth and is not there to squeeze from them whatever little money their helpless parents may have with them. SSRB should not be allowed to take antiyouth and anti-poor decisions, said the BJP spokesperson.
