STATE REPRESENTATIVE FRANK FARINA TO MAKE OFFICIAL RE-ELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT FRIDAY DECEMBER 6TH Farina to run for the 112th district after redistricting plan that redraws the boundaries of all 203 State House Districts Scranton, PA. (Wednesday, December 4th, 2013)– Graham Public Relations (GPR) is pleased to announce that on Friday December 6th, 2013, at 7pm, state Representative from the 115th District, Frank Farina, will make his official and formal announcement of running for re-election in the May primary for the new 112th state House District of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This announcement is being hosted by David & Michele Runco Ferraro Valvano and will take place at The Caverna restaurant in Jessup Pa. A reception will follow until 9pm; a $10 per person donation includes light fare, beer, wine and soda. Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld a redistricting plan that redraws the boundaries of all 203 state House and all 50 state Senate districts. The plan, which will be used for the 2014 elections and thereafter, makes some changes to both the 112th and the 115th Legislative District which Farina currently represents, under the new plan the 115th District will move to the east, the redistricting, along with congressional reapportionment, is a requirement after the U.S. Census every 10 years. Representative Farina stated, “For the last 11 months as a state representative, I have been honored and humbled by my experience representing the people the 115th district. I have learned a great deal about the hardworking people here and quite a bit more about myself in the process, I will continue to serve my constituents proudly everyday and continually build bridges to help our area succeed and prosper. Because of the Commonwealth’s new redistricting plan and the newly structured 112th and 115th, I am very honored to announce my candidacy for the 112th Legislative District of Pennsylvania. I have accomplished a lot in my short time in office, but I have a lot more to do. Let’s continue this journey together.” Some fast facts about Representative Farina’s first year in office include; He was the first freshmen to pass his own legislation through the House of Representatives – HB 1559, Farina has one of the best attendance records in the House of Representatives, Farina is Secretary of the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee, a member of the Game and Fisheries Committee and a member of the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. State Representative Frank Farina was elected in November 2012 to represent Pennsylvania’s 115th Legislative District in Lackawanna and Wayne counties. As the founder and president of Farina Landscaping Inc., he has operated this small business locally since 2004. Frank and his wife Karla are the parents of three children: Antonio, Rocco and Alexa, both Frank and Karla are big fans of physical and outdoor activities and strive to teach the idea of healthy living to their children. Frank was involved in amateur boxing, kickboxing, and various martial arts throughout his life; Frank is also an avid hunter and fisherman and has hunted in multiple states and countries where he has harvested an array of both big and small trophy game. Farina is active in his community as a member of Christ the King Parish, the family of St. Anthony and the St. Ubaldo Society, as well as the Greater Scranton Area Chamber of Commerce and the National Rifle Association. He is also a member of a number of local civic and social organizations, including the Archbald/Eynon Lions Club and the Lone Pine Hunting Club and a member/sponsor of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Farina is an alumnus of Valley View High School in Archbald, where he lettered in both football and baseball. He earned a B.S. degree in criminal justice from Penn State University. His priorities include and will continue to include community and economic development, creating jobs with living wages, supporting small businesses, restoring cuts to school funding, protecting the environment, veterans, improvements to hunting and fishing and protecting our children.
