STORY OF NAWAZ SHARIF : If we closely look, there are two parts of Nawaz Story 1. Fear of unknown i.e. 12th Oct 1999, when Nawaz Sharif ordered the air craft, which was taking Gen. Musharraf from Sri Lanka back to Pakistan, to be re-routed to Bombay-India. Nawaz Sharif was trying to sack Gen. Musharraf, the Head of Pakistan Armed Forces, ordering the plane to be taken to India. On October 12th 1999 at 7:00 P.M, when the coup occurred, Gen. Musharraf was in the air. He was not preset on the ground until 8:00 P.M, at the site of the crime. Technically speaking, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had sacked him at 5:00 PM, exactly two hours prior to the coup. At that time Musharraf was not also holding the office of “Commander-in-Chief”. Hence, no one can trace it back to Musharraf to hold him responsible for the military coup. When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for you to stand upon or you better know how to fly. Mian Sahib did not know either. Nothing is more frightening than a fear you cannot name, “The fear of an unknown”, it never resolves, it leaves you to cling pitifully to any small shelter of the known. This is exactly the problem Nawaz Sharif is facing from the beginning to this day. He never understood the meaning of quick change. There is an utter inability on his part to respond to situation in an appropriate and timely fashion. His first issue led to the 2nd issue and basically he lost credibility. 2. Fear of known, This is the 2nd part of Nawaz Sharif story, he could not pursue the treason case from the beginning because of fear of known i.e. “Any person who abrogates or subverts or suspends or holds in abeyance, or attempts or conspires to abrogate or subvert or suspend or hold in abeyance, the Constitution by use of force or show of force or by any other unconstitutional means shall be guilty of high treason.” The Treason Trial under Article 6 of Pervez Musharraf, has continued for over months without any meaningful result and common perception is, Musharraf high treason trial is done in an unjust way and if the trial has to happen it should happen from 12th October 1999, not from 3rd Nov 2007.
