SUCCESS: The first crucial lesson is that successful people are not born but made.Obviously there has to be some inborn natural ability, coordination, flexibility, anatomical and physiological capacity and also to be able to both strategise and relate to people. But the real key to sustained excellence for leaders and successful people is not the ability to do quantitative analyses in their heads, rather,it is development of mental toughness. The ability to thrive under almost inhuman pressure is perhaps the most defining characteristic of leaders and successful people. They excel when the heat is turned up. They are able to stay focused on the things that really matter in the face of multitude of potential distractions. They are able to bounce back from setbacks with a determination and intense desire to succeed. And also most crucially, they are able to maintain their belief in themselves in the most trying circumstances. For most successful leaders, making it to the top is the result of very careful planning, setting and hitting hundreds of small goals. And if its hard reaching the top, thats nothing compared to what it takes to stay there. Expectations are enormous{ask Michael Phelps-the USA swimmer},and you become the target and benchmark for every other competitor. You have then reached heady heights and have become highly visible and exposed. Its a marvelous place to be, but it also comes with great potential vulnerability and loneliness if things go wrong. Sustained success in such an environment requires astounding physical ability and even then it will not be enough to make you better than all the rest. You will need an extraordinary mindset too. The positive and resilient mindsets of the best leaders underpin their drive and ability to REINVENT themselves continuously in order to stay ahead of the rest. 3 SECRETS OF LEADERSHIP: . 1.The first thing to do is to find your Locus of Control. This is the place where your control originates. Your control must come from within your inner most being or your belief system. You must have to keep telling yourself that you are in charge and that you can make things go your way by and with the help and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. If you can work out your options and evaluate them rationally, most situations are rarely lost. 2.Your level of commitment will arise from your level of passion . Whatever starts off as an inspired idea usually ends up with you having to give it your all. Successful leaders are totally passionate about what they do. If you are not passionate about what you are doing, nobody else is likely to be. Your commitment is like the flag at the end of the finishing line of the race. However low or frustrated you feel, you need to keep it firmly in your sights and go for it. 3.Not much is certain in life, except death and taxes and Judgement. Its all an attitude,so welcome challenge and view change as a normal part of life. Stay with your principles but be ready to vary strategies at any given time. Above all, dont try to do life on your own. Do it with God. He designed it all and created you with a specific reason in mind.
