SUNDER | APRIL 18, 2014 UPDATE: via WRRC re elephant Sunder -- To all of you who have written to us about Sunder – some with joy at his release, some with apprehensions about his future – we’re working against time, and within the constraints of available labor, to ensure that Sunders housing is secure, safe and stress-free, and will allow him choices that he has been denied so far. A team of elephant experts are advising us on various possibilities: solar fencing, shade areas, a wallowing pool, etc.; there’s a lot to be done, and it will take time. But we’ll be ready soon! *** WRRC is working tirelessly to ensure proper accommodations for Sunder are secured & ready for his arrival. As the Forest Dept (PCCF) is responsible for overseeing Sunders care, as well as his relocation, we must continue to agitate, urging the Forest officials to expedite Sunders release.
