SURF LIFE GUARDS SAVE CARDIAC VICTIM Surf life savers used a defibrillator to restart the heart of a man who collapsed after leaving the surf on a Central Coast beach this afternoon. CareFlight’s rapid response trauma team were despatched to Soldiers Beach at Norah Head where the 67-year-old man, from Chester Hill in Sydney’s west, had suffered a cardiac arrest. When the helicopter landed in front of the surf club the man had already regained consciousness thanks to the quick work of life guards who had used a defibrillator to shock the heart back into rhythm. CareFlight’s doctor provided an initial medical assessment and the man was placed in the helicopter and flown to Sydney’s Royal North Shore hospital in a stable condition. Videos: The man boards the helicopter for the flight to Sydney and an unusual bank of sea fog they had to navigate en route.
