Saint Francis de Sales Parish and School Families, The Principal Search Committee invested many, many hours interviewing candidates in recent weeks. On their recommendation, we extended an offer to Mrs. Sally Mummey and I am happy to share that she has accepted and will join Saint Francis de Sales School as our new principal beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. Mrs. Mummey is a seasoned leader in the education field with more than 23 years of experience at Newark City Schools. She is also a member of Saint Francis de Sales Parish and has a deep love of our parish and school community. Mrs. Mummey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Kent State University and a Master of Educational Leadership degree from the American College of Education. She has extensive experience in designing and implementing curriculum, building staff professional development programs, and writing district-wide benchmarks to measure success and attain rigorous education goals. In her tenured career, she has been a literacy coordinator, Title 1 and Reading Recovery teacher, and classroom teacher. She currently holds an administrative role with responsibility for leadership development and teacher education. She has received multiple awards for her accomplishments in education including the Licking County Foundation Leaders for Learning Award, and has presented on a variety of education topics at the district and national level. Mrs. Mummey has expressed to me her passion for ensuring our students receive the very best education through excellent curriculum, teaching, and educational experiences while ensuring our Catholic faith is at the heart of all our students do. She will be involved now with preparations for the coming school year, but will officially begin her time with us on July 1. Though many of you are already familiar with Mrs. Mummey, I know she is excited to get to know our school and parish family even better. We will plan a gathering over the next few months to officially welcome Mrs. Mummey as our principal. This is a very exciting time for our community as we welcome new leadership and I am looking forward to the great strides we will make together in ensuring Saint Francis de Sales School continues to grow as a Christ-centered environment where living vibrant encounters with Jesus is the essence of everything we do.
