#Samsung “smart TVs” record private conversations and transmit the data to 3rd parties? #surveillance This is not total news to me but I think it might be for many of our readers. I use an XBox for “smart” functions on my TV but I never connect the Kinect camera and mic which allows me to control the TV with my hands but in theory also allows someone to see into my living room. I am not saying that there is anything really nefarious going on here. (Yet, but hey, maybe there is.) But one should be informed. It seems to me that the first company to build a smart TV with deep encryption would do very well. (Encryption even the government can’t break, the technology already exists and the Feds are fighting it.) I’d sure be inclined to buy one. I think millions of other people would be too. That’s what the Feds are afraid of. No doubt the managers will outlaw such encrypted devices if they can. The market has a solution to this (potential) intrusion. The only way this violation of privacy continues is if the government makes sure it does.
