Satan is hard at work doing his best to hinder the spiritual - TopicsExpress

Satan is hard at work doing his best to hinder the spiritual growth of Christians and to prevent the unsaved from coming to Christ to begin with. The Bible provides warning after warning about this danger. The Bible also encourages us to defeat the devil and go forward toward God. One of those verses is as follows: THEREFORE, SINCE WE ARE SURROUNDED BY SUCH A HUGE CROWD OF WITNESSES TO THE LIFE OF FAITH, LET US STRIP OFF EVERY WEIGHT THAT SLOWS US DOWN, ESPECIALLY THE SIN THAT SO EASILY TRIPS US UP. AND LET US RUN WITH ENDURANCE THE RACE GOD HAS SET BEFORE US. (Hebrews 12:1 NLT) Long ago in the Alleghenies a large eagle was shot by a hunter. When he examined the bird, he was amazed to find that one of its claws was held firmly in a strong steel trap from which dangled a chain five feet long. Although not heavy enough to prevent the creature from flying, the additional weight had wearied the eagle and brought it down within reach of his rifle. So, too, the Christian can be entrapped and brought low spiritually by burdens and sin which make him incapable of rising to the heights he might otherwise attain. Satan will do that to your family, your church, to you, if he is not resisted. A preacher was receiving a group of young people into the church. He asked the question Will you renounce the devil and all his works? One young boy in front of the preacher just looked at him. The preacher leaned over and whispered, Say I will, if you will. In a loud voice the boy said I WILL IF YOU WILL. Will you? I will if you will.
