Saturday, 5 July 2014 newmedia@euronews To the Editors of Euronews, Last night I was watching with dismay your report on the situation in Israel in the wake of the funeral of the Arab youth who was found murdered in a Jerusalem forest. I cannot comprehend how a respectable news organisation as Euronews can be so biased and provide not only unbalanced reporting, but false and inciting material. 1. Although it is highly probable that the murder of the Arab youth was committed by Israeli extremists, it is so far just a suspicion, not a fact. One may not discount the possibility of a revenge killing due to a family feud that is not uncommon in the Palestinian culture. I may offer another scenario that is quite plausible. What if this youngster was murdered by Palestinians as a provocation to ignite the already tense situation even more? Either way, no respectable news media should assume the facts until the investigation is ongoing and the final verdict is not arrived to. 2. In the view of the above, how can Euronews give room for a extensive scenes of Palestinians accusing Israel with the crime? Moreover, in the report there was this Palestinian woman, who not only accused Israel with the murder, but implied that the Israeli police killed a mother and child on the previous day... Is this what is called responsible reporting? 3. Nowhere in the news report was mentioned that the Israeli PM and the government quickly and publicly proclaimed their utter repugnance over the murder of this Arab youth. I may also ask why wasn’t the question asked from those grieving Palestinians who expressed extreme views and actions against Israel that where were they when the three Israeli students were murdered? Is their grief only extends to their own loss? Would this Palestinian youth still would be alive if those murders wouldn’t have happened? 4. Yesterday, there were 18 missiles landed in southern Israel by Hamas. Yet, your broadcast was saying that Hamas activities have declined... How many missiles should have been directed to Israel that you would say “declined”? I am absolutely disgusted by the distorted and biased view by the European stance of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and by some, if not all, of the various news reporting. Never mind that not far from Jerusalem there are hundreds of Arabs (amongst them Palestinians as well) are murdered every day, millions are displaced, hunger and desperation rules over half the region, it is Israel that must be put on the pedestal as the “bad boy” of the Middle East. Shame on you Euronews!
