Saturday morning dime store philosophation: regret is one of those - TopicsExpress

Saturday morning dime store philosophation: regret is one of those things that has to be taken in just the right quantity. Too little, and one might never learn to recognize mistakes, thus avoiding the growth that comes from them. Too much, and one can become buried under the psychic weight of past errors and wrong turns. I occasionally bump into people who claim to literally regret nothing. I think thats a bold sentiment, but I cant share it. Because I *do* regret things. And will occasionally get lost in the what if game. Which probably just means I tend to go too far in the other direction: pawing through the ashes of past decisions, wishing there were a way to go back and do it over again. I think regret can be a powerful force for personal transformation, if channeled and harnessed properly. As opposed to wallowing. I am (too often) a wallower. I should work on that.
