Saudi Arabia bans import of pepper from India, due to high levels - TopicsExpress

Saudi Arabia bans import of pepper from India, due to high levels of pesticide. The so-called regulators who are supposed to protect Indian consumers from the same risks of poisonous foods are missing in action. Why is it that foreign countries seem to detect our gaps in regulation before we do? It is too simplistic to say they are all against us. The real questions should be (a) Are there high levels of pesticides in Indian foods? (b) Who tracks these? (c) What is their strategy for keeping consumers informed of risks? ... and so on. It has just become a convenient excuse for non-performance in India to blame the rest of the world.
