School rivalries over football and volleyball can be quite fierce, but how about over school gardens? The Ambassadors’ School Garden Competition takes place on May 7. The Ambassadors of Japan, ROC Taiwan, and the United States will judge which school has the most vegetables, most fruits, and the most student involvement, among other categories. This is the first annual “Ambassadors’ School Garden Prize.” This year six schools will compete for prizes. Coop, Marshall Islands High School, Rita Christian School, and Assumption, along with outer islands schools on Kili and Jaluit will all show off their green thumbs. The three Embassies join the RMI in recognizing that nutrition and local foods are an important for the RMI’s successful and healthy future. Who grows the best cucumber? We’ll find out!
