Science agrees that broken biochemistry - which most often has its roots in toxin exposures, nutrient poor diets, chronic stress, inactivity is at the root of the development of chronic health problems (chronic disease). It is tempting for we physicians and patients to blame the individuals DNA for 100% of the cause of chronic disease - which prevents people from learning that there is so much that is under the patients control that would reduce the risk of acquiring disease and or reduce the severity of existing disease. Even for those diseases caused by mutations (for example Cystic Fibrosis) diet quality, activity level, stress hormone levels and toxin exposures dramatically influence the severity of the disease expression. The good news here is that your diet and lifestyle choices greatly influence the probability of disease development and if disease develops - how severe it will be. Why not address diet quality, activity level, toxin exposures, and stress levels for the favorable impact such changes would have on existing disease (and lower the risk of acquiring more chronic ills).
