Sending housemaids to West Asia to cease soon October 25, 2013, 9:44 pm By Maheesha Mudugamuwa The government has planned to put an end to sending women as housemaids to West Asia soon, Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera says. Women taking up overseas jobs had declined by 12 percent, while male workers had increased by 29 percent during the period of January to September this year, when compared to the same period last year, Minister Perera said yesterday.
