Several Stevenson High School student-athletes received special awards at the 2014 Spring Sports Awards Night on May 27. Fourteen Patriots received the Big Gun Award, sponsored by the Stevenson Sports Boosters. The award, established in 1967, recognizes achievement for the most valuable varsity team member over an entire season based on practice effort, contest performance, positive school representation, leadership, attitude, character, and general team contribution. Big Gun Award voting is done by varsity team members. The spring sports Big Gun Award winners were: Vivian To (girls badminton), Conor Okmin (boys lacrosse), Lindsay Pontello (girls track and field), Tim Vestuto (boys track and field), Margaret Petrick (girls soccer), Andrew Komarov (boys tennis), Julia Smith (girls lacrosse), Mitchell Goll (baseball), Dana Morgan (softball), Zack Gilbert (boys gymnastics), Melissa Gartenberg (girls water polo), Mitchell Sokolsky (boys water polo), Josh Standiford (allied soccer) and Eric Chang (boys volleyball). Four students were honored with the Scholar-Athlete Award for being varsity letter winners with the highest grade point average (weighted and unweighted). The four were Eric Chang, Alex Divanyan, Jane Wang and Lily Zhang. Nine students were selected for North Suburban Conference Sportsmanship Awards: Alex Divanyan (boys water polo), Andrew Komarov (boys tennis), Jeffrey Maskalunas (boys volleyball), Joe Morris (baseball), Ashley Oliver (girls water polo), Megan Petrick (girls soccer), Lindsay Pontello (girls track and field), Kat Trotter (softball) and Tim Vestuto (boys track and field). Sixty-four students were honored for playing three sports during the 2013-14 school year: Amber Albrecht, Joseph Axelsen, Charles Bourbon, David Brandt, Brandon Crawley, Gabriella Dini, James Dvorak, Hannah Epstein, Alaina Errico, Samantha Friedman, Ava Gable-Preze, Ryan Greenbury, Grace Guo, Allison Klein, Adam Kody, Caroline Korostynski, Alexander Kozuch, Ming Lu, Daniel Lubelfeld, Diana Minetos, Caleb Oh, Taylor Phillips, Abigail Pucek, Ashley Richardson, Dmytro Roshchenko, Allison Schultz, Abbigale Sise, Samantha Sparber, Anastasia Stanley, Paul Udoni, Chloe Ekenberg, Nicholas Grujanac, Maxene Harris, Kurt Holzer, Eleni Kaloudis, Nicole Keane, Trevor Klivickis, Parth Patel, Myra Peterson, Jenna Raphaeli, Raymond Sullivan, Lauren Williams, Juwon Anderson, Nicole Chen, Naomi Ecanow, Paul Halliday, Tyler Harrington, William Holzer, Ana Hugener, Marisa Ikenn, Jordyn Landau, Kristen Maleski, Joshua McMullen, Jade O’Brien, Evan Scaletta, Andrei Secrieru, Sloane Spector, Michelle Wilson, Imri Frenkel, Nicole Glait, Yash Joshi, Haley Moffat, Leo Simon and Vivian To. In addition, Tom Habley, Greg Hartman, Shane Cook and Mike Fitzgerald were honored as three-sport coaches. Sloane Spector received the Athletic Trainer Award.
