Several weeks ago, I posted a video of Oprah Winfrey speaking to a graduate class of the Sanford School of Business. As I watched the video, the words moved me and called me to take stock of my life, how I feel about myself, and where I go from this point. And so I have decided to begin the New Year by focusing on my personal and professional goals. I have already begun working on one of my goals by applying to several graduate schools. My goal is to be enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Public Policy no later than September 2015. I am doing this for several reasons. The first is to aid in my personal and professional development. The second is to be an example to my nephew Lyndon Johnson and to all of the young people; I have mentored throughout my life. I want to serve as an example, that no matter your age or circumstance, you are never too old to have dreams and to accomplish them.
