Seviyaan Oat shots My way to thank GOD, and celebrate! Because my girls came back home alive! And all the other students and a couple of teachers too, who were travelling in that BUS. My girls go to school in the school bus. They leave home pretty early, so normally most of the students doze off. This morning too, they were all almost asleep when they heard some screams from the back. My girls turned behind to tell the children to stop making noise, but to their shock, saw clouds of smoke. Just then the driver stopped the bus, shouted for all to get out immediately and opened both the front and the back doors. Luckily there was no stampede. The bus was evacuated. Within seconds, flames started rising from the back and smoke was gushing out from the doors. The driver, God bless him, had grabbed an extinguisher on the way out, and some people rushed out from a nearby restaurant with two more. But 3 were not enough. So the poor guy went back into the bus and got one more. Not that it helped :( The fire brigade also arrived within minutes, but those 10-15 minutes it took to control the fire, shook everyone badly. They said there was so much smoke, the sun was blocked :o They had never seen death so close :( Everyone was safe, they had even managed to get their bags and stuff :o Only one small boys bag got burnt. A small price to pay for all their lives! They were then taken to school in another bus. And when do we, parents, come to know? In the afternoon, when the girls came home. The school authorities didnt think it important to inform the parents! I blew my top. I was so MAD, I called the school. The Principal had gone for lunch, and could not be disturbed😏 I got the transport in-charge and really gave it to him. And the idiot tells me, We didnt call as there was no injury. What the hell!! Meanwhile, Khan Saab, who had gone out of town, got the Principal and gave him a piece of his mind. He too gave some nonsensical answers. Ideally, parents should have been called and told to take the children home. They were so traumatised, poor things. Anyway, its useless talking to such irresponsible people. We are going to the Managing Committee, or even the Embassy, if needed. I am going to Big Bazaar them! When I think of what all the kids, and also the teachers, must have gone through in those 10-15 minutes, I shudder. And then I start thinking what if ... they had been a couple of minutes late? the automatic doors had clamped? the whole bus had blown up? What if .... 😞 Isha said she reached school, hugged her friends and started crying! My baby!! Orva said most of the girls were in shock till the first 2 periods :( God has been very very kind! We can not thank him enough. But I am going to go down and thank the driver tomorrow morning. Offering him anything, sounds so cheap, so small! Dont know what we can do to show him our Gratitude :( Anyway, Alls well that ends well. Alhamdulillah! Sadaqat bhi nikal diya hai :) And Chitra Haldia, this is my entry for your event #caloatsmadness Please note that theres some problem with our Internet plan, and so I might not be able to respond to your comments.
