Shalom, I just finished davening at our daily beginners mincha minyan in yeshiva. This one was extra special. A 20 year old student who was on the essentials beginner learning program last year, came back two months ago to the intermediate program. He didnt know the aleph beis. He mentioned to one of the Rabbeim that he never celebrated his bar mizvah as he grew up completely unaffiliated. He has worked with tremendous effort over the last two months and has even moved up to the second level gemara shiur. This morning he got his first aliya and was even the chazan at mincha! To honor the special milestone we made a special bar mitzvah celebration. This isnt the first time that this has happened. What made this extra special is that when I asked him why he came to yeshiva in the fist place, he told me that his mother had gone on a JWRP mission. When she returned from the mission, she told her son theres this place in Israel called Aish Hatorah, you have to go and spend some time there. We dont even realize the magnitude of impact that comes from just touching one persons life, even more so when its done with achdus/unity. May we all be zoche to recognize this potential and actualize it in order to continue being mikadeish Sheim Shamayim! Dovid
