Sharing from another group.... Colleagues, The South African Police Service (SAPS) advised that officials should be vigilant when driving in the Pretoria Central Business District (CBD). Officials should inform their visitors and other stakeholders of the department of this alert. Due to increase in incidents of smash and grabs at the traffic lights (robots) in roads affected by construction and road works in the Pretoria CBD, the Directorate Security Standards urges all DCS officials to exercise extra caution when driving through the following streets: • D F Malan (E’skia Mphahlele) • Eeufees Road • Fountains Circle • Pretorius Street The following intersections are also affected: • Andries (Thabo Sehume) and Proes (Johannes Ramokhoase) • Andries and Struben Streets • Paul Kruger Street with Boom • Paul Kruger and Proes (Johannes Ramokhoase) streets Please take these security hints into consideration: 1. Always make sure your doors are locked and windows closed. 2. Never leave any valuables exposed inside your car. 3. If possible lock all valuables inside your car boot, but just make sure nobody sees you doing that. 4. Beware of pamphlet distributors and ‘ice pop’ seller at the intersections. 5. Cellphones should not be exposed at all. 6. Truck drivers should secure everything on the back of the truck. 7. Be vigilant at all times. Issued by: Security Standards Directorate
