Sharing: homework assignment for our 14 year old sons first week of school was for one of US to write about WHY hes special............(translation: my homework. *shrug* special?? ) ----------------------------- Nathan Alexander rocks my fuzzy princess slippers. He cracks me up. ALL. THE. TIME. Even though he’s not a “clown” type. He knows thing about things that I have NO idea how he learned the things he learned. He knows a few Japanese words. He’s a cool guy. He has a good memory for things that resonate deeply within him. He was into Norse mythology for awhile, he still explores it a bit. Nate’s good natured, darn loyal and will do exactly what needs to be done, as long as it’s not putting the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Actually, he will do that but it takes 3 tries. He is helpful. VERY helpful. INCREDIBLY helpful. He can do way more than running out trash. He could work for Merry Maids. Nate’s nice to other people. He’s that kid who talks to anyone. He is attentive and compassionate to others needs. He likes attention but also likes to be left alone. He knows how to entertain himself. He likes to learn. Even when it has been shared that he does not pay attention, he does..or he does enough to come home and tell me about whatever was going on in class. I think he likes history best and math the least. I think hed totally ace a cooking class. Hes good to take walks with and sit around and talk to. Hes fun at yard sales. Nate’s observant and notices things and points them out so we can all check it out. He likes the process of spicing foods. He makes an amazing deviled egg. He’s always willing to test my concoctions… even when they look like yuk. He’s brave, willing to try and knows that its important to try. He’ll blush when he reads this because its true….. he’s a cuddler and always has been. He is affectionate. He ALWAYS has hugged his grandpa and grandmas goodbye. We call him the Negotion-Nate-er. He likes to negotiate. Procrasti-Nate-or……. he likes “Later” He is also Mr. Bargain Hunter, but if he makes $10 mowing a lawn…. he will find a way to spend it in 3 minutes to less. He’s polite. Wildly polite. Polite enough that other people tell me how nice and polite my son is. As for me, I get to hear him slam his brothers door at home. He’s quick to anger, but doubly quick to chill out. He’s into gaming, youtube gamers, Dr. Who and Supernatural and the Walking Dead……watching anime, reading novels and loves old 80’s metal. I’ve told you all of this, but I don’t think any of these things make him specifically special. He’s… Nathan, he’s special because I gave birth to him, watched him grow and learn and have taken part on his life journey. What might make him special to you is knowing that his future self…will carry forth what you currently teach and share with him. I hope you find him special too. Thanks for this assignment. Your welcome to share it with him if you like. He quit looking over my shoulders after the fuzzy slippers remark. :) Nates mom.
