Shaykhul Hadeeth Hazrat Maulana Mufti Radha ul-Haq Hafithahullaah BIRTH AND LINEAGE: Hazrat Mufti Radhaul Haq Sahib (Damat Barakatuhu) was born in the Village of Shah Mansur on the 9th of September 1950 corresponding to the Islamic date, 26th Dhul Qa’dah 1369. Hazrat Mufti Sahib hails from a prominent family of Ulama and Mashaikh of Tareeqat. His late father, Moulana Shamsul Hadi (R.A.) was a great luminary and spiritual leader of his time. He was the Khalifa of Moulana Abdul Ghaffur Abbasi Madani (R.A.). For the past 400 years there have been Ulama in the family of Hazrat Mufti Sahib. His Nana (maternal grandfather) Moulana Abdul Razzaq (R.A.) was an eminent scholar and luminary of his time. Mufti Sahib has four brothers who are all involved in imparting Deeni education and Islahi work. Education: Hazrat started his primary education at a very early age. He had to leave school after the fourth grade due to chronic illnesses. Thereafter, he was enrolled in his father’s madrassa. From 1963 up to 1966, he studied under his respected father and Taya (uncle). Hazrat Mufti Sahib’s uncle, nicknamed Baba was also a renowned scholar and spiritual mentor. He was considered to be Mustajabud Da’wat (someone whose Duas are readily accepted). He was a master of multiple Islamic sciences such as Nahw (syntax), Etymology (sarf), Meerath (inheritance) etc. Hazrat Mufti sahib’s father and uncle were known as Sheikhain… In 1966, Mufti Sahib went to Khorah Katak (northern frontier) and enrolled at Madrasa Jamiah Islamiah and in 1970 at the age of 20 he completed his studies. Hadhrat Mufti sahib went through numerous ordeals whilst studying at Khorah Katak. He taught at his alma mater for six months and had to leave due to his poor health and the trying conditions at Khorah Katak. Upon the insistence of his father he went back to his village, where he taught for approximately three months. In 1972, his father sent him to Hazrat Binnori (R.A.) in Karachi. Hazrat Binnori (R.A.) took him on, on condition that he teaches at the Madrasa. Hazrat was impressed with Hazrat Mufti Sahib’s personality and academic potential. Whilst in Karachi he specialized in the department of Takhassus Fil Daw’ah Wal Irshad under Moulana Ishaq Sandeylwi (R.A.) and Iftaa under Mufti Waliy Hassan Sahib (R.A.). Despite his ill health, this did not deter him from continuing with his studies whilst teaching. In 1980, at the age of thirty, Hazrat got married at the insistence of his close ones and family members. From 1972 – 1987 he taught at Binnori town. He conducted Tafseer lectures for five years whilst making Imamat at the Abu Zarr Masjid in Karachi. The number of congregants kept increasing on a daily basis. People would throng from far and wide to listen to Hazrat’s commentary on Jalalayn Shareef. HIS TEACHERS: 1. His respected father and uncle who were renowned Ulama and Mashaikh of the Naqshbandi Silsila 2. Moulana Ishaq Sandelwi (R.A.) 3. Mufti Waliy Hassan (R.A.) 4. Mufti Fareed Zaroobi R.A.) 5. Moulana Badshah Gull Sahib (R.A.) 6. Moulana Ameen Gull Sahib (R.A.) 7. Mufti Sahib also attended the lessons of Hazrat Binnori (R.A.) In 1987 Allah Ta’ala blessed the South African Muslim community with Hazrat Mufti Sahib’s acceptance to take up the teaching post at Darul Uloom Zakariyya. Hazrat’s coming to South Africa has been a boon and he is consulted extensively on various contemporary issues facing South African Muslims. MUFTI SAHIB TEACHES: 1. Sahih Bukhari 2. Hazrat Mufti Sahib has been teaching for the past 41 years. He has taught every Kitab of the Sihah Sittah. PERSONALITY: Mufti Sahib is the head of the Iftaa department and was the former Mufti of New Town Madrassa, Karachi. He is currently the Ameer of the Jamiatul Mufteen in South Africa and a member of the Jamiatul Mufteen of Pakistan. He also presides as a member of the Shura of Jamiatul Ulama South Africa. Hazrat has been the dean of the Iftaa department of Darul Uloom Zakariyya for the past 17 years. Hazrat Mufti Sahib has been teaching at Darul Uloom Zakariyya for the past 25 years and has dedicated his life to Islamic education and Islah of his close ones and students. Despite his poor health; he always gave preference to the education of his students. He is also responsible in overseeing to the necessities of a girls’ institute in Pakistan which has a student enrolment of 400 girls. Tamreen AI-Sarf (Arabic Morphology) SULOOK AND TAREEQAT: Hazrat Mufti Sahib first took the Bay’ah at the hands of Moulana Gulam Habeeb Naqshbandi (R.A.), Moulana Gulam Sahib was very close to Hazrat’s late father (R.A.). Thereafter, he took the Bay’ah at the hands of Hazrat Mufti Mahmud Sahib (R.A.), and Hazrat spent an entire Ramadan in the company of his Sheikh at Darul Uloom Deoband. Within a short span of time, he was bestowed with Khilafah. Hazrat has a weekly Islah Majlis Program which at most times is held at his home at Darul Uloom Zakariyya. At times Hazrat’s Majlis is held at other venues for the benefit of the general public. Hazrat’s Majalis can be heard or downloaded from the Darul Uloom Zakariyya Website. Hazrat Mufti Sahib has travelled to various countries for Islah (spiritual reformation), Dawah programs and welfare assistance. Hazrat is a member of the al-Imdad welfare organization.
