Sheffield Theatres to stage Anything Goes and revive Tim Firth’s This is My Family Sheffield Theatres artistic director Daniel Evans is to direct a new production of musical Anything Goes over the Christmas period. The show, which has music and lyrics by Cole Porter and a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman, will run from November 28 to January 17, 2015. It will be choreographed by Alistair David and is produced in association with Stage Entertainment. Meanwhile, the organisation will also revive its production of This is My Family by Tim Firth, whose previous work includes Calendar Girls. The new musical premiered in 2013 in the Studio theatre. This year it will run from October 9 to 18 at the Lyceum before embarking on a national tour. Evans directs the show, which has musical direction by Caroline Humphris. Elsewhere in the autumn programme, a co-production of Twelfth Night with English Touring Theatre will run from September 18 to October 18. Jonathan Munby will direct the show, which will have design by Colin Richmond and lighting design by Chris Davey. Evans said: “I’m delighted to announce our autumn season, particularly as it combines two strands of work of which we are incredibly proud – classical theatre and musical theatre. I’m especially pleased that we are able to remount Tim Firth’s This Is My Family in the Lyceum after its award-winning run in the Studio last year. “It’s also a mark of the company’s confidence that there will be two productions touring the country: Twelfth Night (with ETT) and This Is My Family. It’s wonderful to be able to take the work we make in Sheffield to a wider audience across the UK.”
