Single dad minds his young son Doesn’t want him playing alone An orphan boy blinks by a door Takes me a brother for his boy I was scared but hoped for joy Guarded grin as I see the boy Racing fast thru bended grass He sails kites of brothers past I sleep slight on my first night Trekked downstairs for a bite Stumble across a dog in dark Don’t recall what I’m here for Edge on up the endless steps Boy is asleep and dream deft I sink back and wait for the sun Beats the streets I used to run Early Saturday plays the day Boy games and row the lake Summer storm sank our ship Grabbed for you but you slip Away from me and my hold Into water so dark and cold It’s dad and me at Rocky Beach He smiles at me but can’t reach Except to slime thru my door He raped my brother And another boy I escaped away to another place And never want to gaze his face I live in my castle with a moat Flying kikes and sailing boats
