Sixty-five years ago this summer, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation regained ownership of the Kellogg Ranch from the federal government, which had used the land as a military base during World War Two. The foundation donated the ranch land to the state of California with these stipulations: The property must be used for education; classes must be taught in agriculture and animal husbandry; the Arabian horses must be maintained; and public horse shows must be resumed. That ranch land eventually became Cal Poly Pomona. And the Arabian horses are still here! #throwbackthursday
