Snatch Strap Danger!!! This video reiterates the importance of safe Snatch Strap recovery! Thankfully in this instance everyone looks ok but people have been killed in very similar circumstances. Always have dampeners placed over the snatch strap to avoid the strap recoiling too far and most importantly too high, we recommend having a dampener placed roughly 1/2 meter from each end of the strap as the weakest point of a snatch strap is the stitching. For a single snatch strap you should have 2 dampeners (One over each end of the strap near the stitching) for 2 straps joined together you should have 4 dampeners as you now have 4 potential weak points ect.) A dampener can be as simple as a towel or a jacket with the strap placed through the arms and the pockets weighed down with sand ect. But do make sure that the dampener is secured without affecting or damaging the strap. Also do remember if the bogged vehicle has had shovel work to at least the front of all 4 tyres, the pressures have been reduced correctly and the wheels are pointed straight ahead as possible than the recovering vehicle should not have to take off at Mach 10. For the recovering vehilce the tyre pressures should be reduced correctly, the vehilce should be reversed back and forward to create compacted ground and we recommend Low Range 1st Gear (Manual or Automatic) If the recovering vehilce is placed in Low Range 1st Gear then the driver cannot accelerate any faster than the gear allows. Please always practice safe recovery techniques out there everyone as things can go wrong in seconds! Have a Great weekend everyone, stay safe
