So I could hardly sleep last night as I had a lot on my mind - TopicsExpress

So I could hardly sleep last night as I had a lot on my mind regarding last Saturdays Lucky Fish Train party. I never publicly talk about what goes on behind the scenes with events Im involved with (and Im sure most of you dont think parties just grow on trees) but I feel you all need to know a few things. Most of you at the party told me that you had the best adventure/jol of your life (and that made it all worth it) and some of you must have thought it’s was a rather unorganized event. Maybe it wasnt that bad and I know Im my worst critic, but long story short. When I got back from Mauritius last week I was told that the beautiful beach mansion we had booked to use for this party was pulled out from under our feet at the last minute. You can understand the dilemma we faced and at one point we considered pulling the whole event. But that has never happened with me before and there is always a solution. So we pressed on and found another venue 2 days before the party. Relatively close to the old house, but behind the railway tracks and one part of the house pretty much under construction. If you are interested to hear about some of the other problems we faced then please carry on reading. * 4 X VIP (double) toilets where booked for the event and the company dropped off 4 portaloos just before the party was about to start * Due to security reasons we contained the party on the grounds of the house rather then let people walk across the train tracks to get to the beach. Hence no beach action * The house was a 15-minute walk instead of a 3-minute walk. This was chosen as it followed a far safer tarred road, rather then the short cut we could have taken as the chances of people getting lost was far greater if the walk followed the short cut * On the day before the party, PRASA (Metro Rail) told us we could not use a generator on the train to power the soundsytem due to a new safety decision by management. Once again we pushed through and found a solution * Then on the morning of the party I could not find the train on platform at the time it was supposed to be on. Eventually when I did find it, this left us such little time to power 9 carriages with safe and secure sound and properly stock the bar. Hence the delay in the train leaving as well as me acting as Barman, DJ, Security officer & Conductor I can go on and on about all the problems we faced but we made a decision to keep the party going, even if it meant we had to spend almost double the amount of money to ensure you got the party you were hoping for. Not trying to make too many excuses, we did the best we could and by the response from the amazing group of people that attended the party, it looked like you were having the time of your life. Thank you to everyone involved behind the scenes that all worked there asses off. From way before the event stated, to way after it finished. From the wonderful team of cleaners who tirelessly kept the toilets and garden as clean as they could, to the DJs that played awesome music, to the door staff and security that tried as best they could with the huge crowd and Hire Zone who installed an amazing soundsytem in such a short space of time. It may not have gone off as smooth as we had liked it to, but that doesnt take away the fact that you all worked as hard as you could to ensure everyone had a fantastic time dancing. Thank you, Kevin
