So, Im talking to a person I respect last night about why I do what I do as a profession. Then they reminded me of the lack of benifets, medical, pension, no medical retirement for work injuries, low pay, etc. To be honest it made me think. I couldnt dispute or argue any of it. :( Then I thought about it. Its who I am. I protect and serve. Ill get the criminal off my trains so good people can get home safely. Ill stand in the sunshine and the rain at a trolley station putting up with the insults or risks to my personal safety. Ill struggle to handcuff a guy thats afraid of going to jail for an open warrant. Ill walk miles on train tracks while smart people sleep at night on a comfy bed. Yes, I do it to protect the interests of San Diego MTS. They contracted my services. But, ultimately, I do it to protect and serve decent people. Keep that in mind if your ever in San Diego or any other city with a public transportion system. Have a safe trip and have your passes or tickets ready. Yours Truly, A Trolley Cop
