So Lucas got to spend almost 5 whole days with his Daddy. I hear they played, ate, and slept the whole time! I went to share in the celebration of a wedding, a 50th birthday, two 30th birthdays, and a slew of mothers days with most of my family (we missed those who werent able to come!) Good times! Lots of fun and good memories made! One of the highlights, besides the obvious celebrating, was seeing some of Dale Chihulys work at the Bellagio. He is a master of glass, and he designs some of the most amazing pieces. I was hooked when I first saw the massive chandelier at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Gorgeous! No pictures Ive seen do it justice. I found one that comes close and shared it below. Then there is one somewhere in St. Louis that Im totally blanking on. It was much smaller, but just as beautiful. But the one at the Bellagio! It was worth the trip by itself. Its called Fiori di Como. Ive read that it is the largest glass sculpture in the world. It is 70 long and made up of 2000 glass and metal flowers that are suspended from the ceiling. Including the frame, it weighs in at 50,000 pounds! Its enormous. Each flower is different and a work of art in itself. All together... awesome! The pics below were taken in the daytime, so the back lighting is sunlight. Im sure it was even more beautiful at night when it is the main lighting in the room. On the way to see the Fiori di Como, we saw a bonus Chihuly piece at the Bellagio, too. I couldnt find the name for it but have shown a pic below too. It was about 10 tall and made of blues and golds. Makes me think of sea life. So pretty! Ive added seeing as many Chihuly pieces as I can to my bucket list. :) The best part of the trip was touching back down in Memphis and being greeted by the two cute boys in the last picture. :) Tracy
