So, Tyler was tasked to write a Patriot Pen Essay for school. In doing so he had an in-depth conversation with my dad (Pappy) one afternoon about his time in the service, as well as the rest of my dads brothers. Tyler learned a great deal about each branch that each of them served in--NAVY, ARMY, MARINES. Amazingly enough, my dad had 3 other brothers. 2 served in WWII, including one in Iwo Jima, 1 served in the Korean War and they all came home alive. Tyler also included his other grandpa (Papa) who served in the NAVY in the Vietnam War, as well as my moms brother and Uncle Phil who served in the ARMY and MARINES respectively in the Vietnam War. It was a great learning experience for Tyler and a wonderful memory was made, too.
